How do you play Craps?
The game might look complicated at first, but once you’ve got the knack, you’ll be rolling with it in no time. Unlike other casino games, your bet will usually be solved in one round, but with Craps it can take a few rolls to resolve a bet. This means the excitement keeps building as you play – not just for you, but also the other players watching the game if you’re in the Live Casino version.
In Craps, two dice will be thrown and what happens in the game depends on the value of these two dice. You’ll be offered the chance to place a bet every time the dice is rolled and there are two different types of dice rolls: Come Out rolls, which each game starts with, and Point rolls which you’ll keep playing until the bet is resolved.
Once you’ve made your first roll, there are three outcomes: a Natural, which is if you get a 7 or a 11 (a win if you placed a Pass Line Bet, a lose if you didn’t) and get to roll again, Craps, which is where you roll a 2, 3 or 12 (a lose) but you still get to roll again, or a Point, which is if you get a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. You then need to roll again and try and aim for a 7 or the same number as before – it doesn’t have to be the same dice combination, just the same number. If you placed a bet on Pass Line you will win if the point is rolled before a 7. If you placed a bet on Don’t Pass, you win if a 7 comes before the point. This resolves the bet and the game is finished.
There are also different types of bets:
- A Pass or Don’t Pass bet: The Pass Line bet means you bet that the roll will pass (win) by rolling a natural or by winning the point before seven-ing out. The Don’t Pass Line is the opposite of this.
- A Come or Don’t Come bet: These bets can only be made after the point has been determined. The Come Bet wins if a Natural is rolled out and loses if the Craps are. The Don’t Come bet is the opposite of this.
- Place to Win/ Place to Lose Bet: When you place a bet on Win or Lose, you are betting if this number will be rolled next, or not. So, for a Win, if you place a bet on Win 4 then you bet that there will be a 4 before a 7 is rolled. For a Lose, if you place a bet on Lose 4 then it means that you bet that there will be a 7 before there will be a 4.
It might take a few goes to truly understand the rules, so it might be best to start out with First Person Craps and see how you go, then move to Live Craps for all of the real-time excitement. You can play both 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere as long as you have a laptop or tablet.
