Buzz Bingo in Byker Buzz Bingo has said it will permanently close 26 of its bingo halls, putting 573 jobs at risk. The company said the move will be part of a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).
Adderstone Group completed the purchase of the site of Buzz Bingo and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne in Winter 2018.
The acquisition comprised two purpose-built buildings across the 3.1 acre site which was developed in 2003.
The first building provides a 33,300 sq. ft. (3,093 sq. m.) bingo hall occupied by Buzz Bingo (formerly Gala Bingo and owned by Gala Leisure Limited) and the second a separate 2,528 sq. ft (234 sq. m) fast food drive-thru restaurant occupied by KFC.
The Gala unit is set over ground and part mezzanine floors and comprises a large open plan bingo hall, gambling / slot machine area, reception, restaurant and bar, as well as staff office accommodation.
Gala Bingo
It is one of the largest Gala Bingo halls in the North East and provides a 1,500 seat capacity. The unit currently has 10,000 registered members.

The KFC restaurant benefits from excellent road frontage onto one of the major arterial routes into Newcastle city centre.
